All,
I have an interesting issue. I have noticed that when my wife wears her extreme weather cold clothing, her eye relief on her scopes becomes a problem (Too far away). She has a savage Lady hunter which is basically a savage 14 with a shortened wood stock length of pull and a built in cheekpad comb to help raise a women's eye relief. the problem is when she wears all of her gear, she starts getting the dreaded black ring when zoomed in past 7 in a 2.5-10 Leupold VX3 scope. This scope also is supposed to have some of the furthest eye relief out there. The scope currently resides on a one piece steel rail type base (not sure of manufacturer but maybe EGW?) and has low profile rings. Because of the low profile rings, the scope cannot go any further back or it will actually start to hit the front of the base (the slanted part of the bell housing is what touches the rail/base). If we put higher rings on the rail, then this may help but now she would most certainly need an additional cheek pad to what is already on the stock. Any suggestions?
