No news to anyone here, but powder is in short supply around here. I just got a 338 edge and need to work up a load. I have had great luck with imr 4350 in my dad's 300 rum, and have quite a bit on hand. Can the load data for a 338 rum be substituted for the edge? From what I've found so far the go to powder seems to be h1000, but of course I can't find any.

Or if anyone has any loads using imr 4350, 4064, or 4831 that's what I have the most of.

N570 or Retumbo are the only other powders I'd play around with. If you can't find them, I'd leave the Edge in the safe instead of putting wear on the barrel. You'll probably see some H1000 before long. I've been picking up one pounders the past couple of months...

Do you have or can you find any Imr 7828 or Rl25. They are supposed to work in the 338 RUM might work in the edge as well.

I hit the motherload today. Grabbed an 8lb jug of H1000, 2lbs of Retumbo, 2lbs of IMR 4350, & 1lb of Varget at a shop in Glenrock, WY. If yer travelling through central Wyoming, might be worth stopping...

QuickLoads...
28" barrel, 210 grain bullet, 88.5 grains of H4350
~63,000 psi ( near max)
3124 fps

I wouldn't go much heavier than a 210 grain bullet with H4350

28" barrel, 250 grain bullet, 91.5 grains of H4831
~63,800 psi (max)
2948 fps

I wouldn't go much heavier than a 250 grain bullet with H4831

4064 is not on the QuickLoads version I have

If you can find some N570, H1000 or Retumbo that's your best bet with the 338 Edge

Looking at my notes, I've never shot H4350 or H4831 in either of my 338 Edges...

All I did was start with 338RUM max data as the start loads in the Edge. Just like you do with an AI or other Improved cartridge.
Never ran into any problems doing so, but had to extrapolate data for US869, RE33 and H50BMG (which I think there is now data for the Edge somewhere)
You can also email Shawn Carlock for loads.

Cheers.
