Are you sure youre going to bring enough gun? Heard you need at least a .223 for hogs.
Dont want anybody getting hurt
EDITED TO ADD - i can just see Memtb talking to a fellow hunter, and the ensuing discussion:
Fellow hunter: hey bud, nice day we're having. What you shooting today?
Memtb: yeah, its a great day. Im shooting .223
Fellow hunter: thats cool, im shooting a .223 as well! What bullet are you using? Im using 77 gr OTM
Memtb: mine are about 300gr
Fellow hunter: 300gr!? How the heck do you fit that into a 223 case!!??
Memtb: well you cut down the 223 case, fill with lead, swage it, and then stuff it in the front end of a 375 H&H Ackley!
Just kidding. I know Memtb doesnt swage bullets. But i know what he's gonna take if he goes (and ive got 375 ackley too). Im a big fan of that caliber (in either version, orig or ackley)
IridiumRed, I am actually considering using the AI…..depending upon the hunting conditions. If most of the shots will occur under 150 yards - preferably under 100 yards…..I may be using my cast bullet loads.
I haven't shot them in a while…..looking at powder coating them, and using a new load which should put me around 1800 mv. If I can get them @ around 1" to 1.25" 3 shot groups…..my AI may go "hog hunt'n"!
More options for the wife! Not too happy with her round-nose 220 grain .338 WM cast bullet. I may look into a new mold of a bit more weight and a wider metplat.
If that doesn't happen…..there is the .223 Rem, the 6.5-284, or drag out the long retired 270 Win.
Lots of options! memtb
