Help pic the bullet for my son's Elk Hunt.

Good old fashion Nosler Partition in 160-175 will knock the crap out of any elk you can hit...bin' doing it for many many moons by a ton of hunters...TIME is the TEST !!

Maybe look up Broz's opinion of the 195 EOL vs 180. He tested the 195 EOL in a 7mm-300WM so it's close comparison to the 28 Nosler.

24" N570 82.1 Grains 0.005" off lands

Oops correction. That was the original load on new brass. Since the barrel sped up quite a bit and I adjusted it again last week.

The load now is N570 80.5 Grains 0.005" OL. I had looked at the wrong log in log book. The barrel jumped about 100 fps and pressure was too high. Backed back down and found the node again.

Gorgeous bull!

Did you hit him high in the spine area or where did the bullet land?
The shot hit him in the base of the neck/spine and smashed all the way through. I found tip fragments in the spine but the core kept going.
