Help me decide on .224 caliber and rifle

I just sold my Ruger .22-250 that I owned for many years so I now have a need for another .22 caliber centerfire. Here are my questions:

1. Which caliber would you buy for varmint and target work out to 300-400 yards? .223 or .22-250?
I have dies for both.
I was going to get a .22-250 but am wondering about barrel life.

2. What twist barrel would you get?

3. Which mfg./model would you get? Weight is not an issue because it will not be a walking gun. I prefer synthetic stocks, but its not a show stopper. Accuracy is most important consideration.

Personally if 400 was max I would go with a 223 in one of the CZ rifles.

223 will handle 400 with ease

I'd get a tikka varminter 223, its an 8 twist, I use a RRA AR-15 with an 8 twist for varminting, 400 is easily doable.
