I'm in the process of building my first "custom" bolt action rifle, and I must admit, I'm a bit confused. My build is a Zermatt Origin - LA receiver, a McMillan Game Warden stock, and a Greyboe M5 3.715 DBM bottom metal. After I dry fit everything together and went to insert my Accurate mag 5rd magazine, I discovered that there appears to be nothing that actually stops the upward movement of the magazine?
A quick internet search gave few answers other than "yup, that's just the way it is". While I'm new to building my own bolt action rifles, I'm nowhere near being new to firearms in general and I can't think of any other box magazine/latch system that works this way. Am I missing something? It sure seems like the slightest amount of accidental upward pressure on the mag while reloading will bind the bolt. I can't be the only one surprised by/disappointed with this set up?
Thanks in advance!
