I have taken to shooting 223 Hornady Superformance match 75gr HPBT ammo (going a lot slower than yours) and the first hit blew a hole through the fur bigger than 1" with a 2" permanent wound cavity. So I shudder what a "close" range hit from your cannon would do.
Perhaps you need more than 1 type of ammo with you and pick something appropriate for the range. I know that is a hassle, since coyotes tend to surprise you. I am not after fur, just killing the dogs that tear up the lambs on a local sheep farm. Maybe you need a varmint style bullet that completely disintegrates ? Sort of like the 204 ruger but out to a longer range ?
