I'm a longtime Hammer supporter and have been shooting the Hunters and now the HHTs in my guns.
I just picked up a 6mm ARC (Howa Mini) and am kicking around the idea of some of the other options out there…
Like Hornady's new CX and the LRX from Barnes. They both look like more great options and I'm curious if anyone has experience with all 3 options.
How does the HHT (90gr) compare with the CX (90gr) and LRX (95gr)? From what I can tell the Barnes claims the highest BC, followed by Hammer and Hornady comes in last place.
I'm also curious to know if anyone is using the 90gr Sierra TGK and how that might compare with the monos listed.

Here's another good option:

I forgot about the Apex option. Chatted with them at length a couple years ago but went with Hammer cuz they were still in the R&D stage with their 6mm offering then. I'll have to give them another serious look.

What'll you be using it on?

Honestly the 70 NBT would be a total killer in it, or if you really wanted heavier then go with the 95 NBT. I've shot several arks full of game with these bullets and I can't imagine anything else ever doing any better!

With listed optimal twist rate of 7" I may be out of luck with the factory 7.5" on the Howa.
I'll have to shoot him a message and get his thoughts on performance in the ARC with the 7.5" twist. It's definitely intriguing though.

Curious as to why 90gr?

75gr offerings might be worth looking at too
I figure with the 22" boltgun I can land in the 3000-3150' range and the 90gr gives a pretty decent jump in BC over the 75gr options. Running the numbers, that extra 15gr carries the ft-lbs out further for the mountain mulies I plan to tackle. Am I overthinking it?

I would definitely shoot him a message because I was just talking with him the other night about 6mm ARC options.

Over thinking it, perhaps but that's what we do eh:)

Side note, I have a Howa Mini in a .204, what an incredible truck rifle! I found a 223 take off barrel for it, then it'll be a good "opportunity rifle" (deer and lopes as well yotes). Great rifles

90 grain Sciroccos and Accubonds are also great options. The Sciroccos can be a little sensitive to tune, but what a fantastic wound channel they create!
The reason I've shot Hammers for so long is because of the lack of load development needed. In my experience it seems the harder I push them, the tighter the groups have gotten. Definitely a big advantage with these bullets but may e other monos are the same 🤷‍♂️ I've always thought the Sciroccos IIs are cool but the potential load development required on such an expensive bullet has always kept me away.
