My cousin and I were working on ranch chores today and the opportunity to shoot some hogs caused us to take a break. I built both rifles, his .284 Win in the Manners and my 6.5-284 Tikka in the McM A3. My equipment trailer made the perfect bench. He smoked a big sow @ 851yds. I missed a huge boar @ 940. The 180 vld dropped that sow in her tracks. Good ending to a beautiful afternoon. 526BB0C5-FB01-42B5-96EE-2F139414943E.jpeg803051DA-78BF-47FC-B10A-4DE579A9ACAD.jpeg

We are overrun with the dang things. We actually sat right there for two hours and shot at 4 different groups of pigs coming out on that 300 acre wheat field. I have recently loaded some 143 eldx and my chart is for my tried and true 140 vld Bergers. I missed at 940, 927, and 855; shot a few inches over every time. Oh well, it was still better than fencing!

Where if you don't mind are y'all hunting? I know it has to be close to my part of the country.

Hahahsh that's a true test to the BC or verlocity of the eld vs vld. Still a great time to do that while you "work". Wildrose has pigs all around his place too just nice to see that open land and be able to stretch the legs on your rifles. Thanks for sharing

WildRose, we were a couple miles West of Miller Creek lake. Northwest corner of Throckmorton county. Not too far from your part of the world. I have a few farms in Knox, Haskell and Throckmorton counties.

We need to get together sometime then, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if we've met somewhere down the road. In a way I grew up in Throckmorton. The Batchlers, Howsleys, Bachmans and Johnson's were pretty much the only family I had.

We bought the drug store there in Throckmorton in about 1990 and dad moved down there permanently to run it and semi retire.

Dave, it is a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 npr1 reticle taken with an iPhone 7. She was shot with a Schmidt & Bender pmII 4-16x50 with a p4f reticle.
WildRose, I live in Rhineland and my folks still live on the farm between Throckmorton and Weinert, about 10 miles west of the old Swenson ranch hq(Clark's now). Been here my whole life.
