Had a gunsmith fit a hammer shroud on a Colt Detective Special. Got it back and he had installed it backwards. He put it on correctly, filled in the extra holes and reblued it in a nice royal blue. No charge at all. Got back a nicer pistol than I turned in. Not as much collector's value but carried it on a many occasions as a cop in a "Bullitt" shoulder holster.

Just looking at your pictures I can tell just from the file marks he probably didn't know how to properly fit the safety. It's not that hard if you know what you're doing.
