Just doing a deal on a used action. Gave seller my phone number via PM. I then got 2 texts....one from seller and one from someone who CLAIMS to be the seller!!

HACKER PHONE NUMBER..,...224-541-0823.
HACKER PAYPAL INFO... [email protected]

How he got into our private messages is beyond me.

unfortunately unless you know the member or can do a face to face doing deals on any forum is a crap shoot. the forum owners either wont or cant keep our info private or secure.

Not in regards to this. he even used the sellers screen name and listed the fact that it was an "action/wrench".....JUST like I wrote it on the PM between the seller and I.

I have gone back to policing my own posts and messages to look for emails and numbers and either removing them, deleting the post, having admin delete the post or flat deleting the accounts on certain forums.

Had a friend just go thru an attempted scam on a much larger scale, new UTV. The members here have given great advice, a request for FaceTime/Video call with the documentation and item for sale will usually send the scammer running and the item will miraculously be sold shortly afterwards.

I do not have many transactions here, but I only deal with outstanding/reputable LRH members. Most of them have been around for a long time and have plenty of positive feedback. Some of them I became close friends with.

Just last week a member posted their phone number for a scope purchase.
I posted next and recommended that they delete it because of all the scams. That number is probably still there even though I @ the members username to get their attention. I try to help

I do not buy or sell very much here, not due to anything here. It's just me the little money people seem to save is not worth the risk.I just pay the full price and get it directly from the manufacturer.
As mentioned by Fenex , unless you've been around a long time or I know you personally I just prefer to buy from the manufacturer.
