H4350 to RL22?

Anyone want to sell some RL17?

I found some in my mom and pop store. He charged only $36.99! But I have some now.

I shoot RL-17 in my 7mm-08 (145 gr Barnes LRX) and RL19 in .260 Rem with 142 Nosler ABLR. Both gives me a bout 80 fps faster than I/H-4350.

About how much RL17 should I start with? My H4350 load is 72 grains.

start same as H4350 some where about 68.0gr. but expect to see 70-80 fps. increase.

If you are having high ES, my first thought is that the chosen powder is not providing good case fill. I would think a bulkier, slower burn rate powder would be best. Thinks like H4350 and RL17 work well in WSM cartridges (short and fat).
I would think RL22, 23, 33, H1000, even Retumbo might work. I use Rl22 in 25-06 and 7 mag with good success.

RL17 is pretty dense and will have less case fill so you might not crunch powder. if h4350 is 100% fill RL17 will be 96%

You also could use a plaster vibrator (hobby shops have them for getting rid of bubbles in plaster) these will settle a full case of powder down to below the shoulder depending on grain size and length and get you the densest powder column mitigating powder crunching considerably. JM
