H4350 in a 280AI.

H4350 is indeed a great all around powder. I use it with 140 class bullets in my 280ai. Depending on your chamber throat it may be the best for case fill. Slower powders such as RL23 with longer bullets can cause compressed loads if you are dealing with a SAAMI chamber. My rifle didn't like the 162ELDM with RL23.

Mine loves the 162eldx at around 2900fps using R17, R22 or IMR 7977. Under half inch groups, but there are a lot of bad reviews on this bullet at usual whitetail ranges. I have only range shot it at this stage, having other proven game loads to use up first.

Strangely, I haven't tried H4350 with 160's yet even though it is my favourite powder overall. I will rectify that. It sure does very well with 150's though.

As others have said, the H4831 is the magic pixie dust for 280 ai, in the 160 class bullets. But the H4350 isn't far away. I developed loads with both, with the 4350 being my second choice. If I had that much H4350 powder, and I didn't have another cartridge using the 4350, I'd sure give it a try in my 280 ai.

RL16 has done great for me. I shoot the 140 accubond at 3250. Flat out hammers deer. I've yet to recover a bullet, killed a couple at 50 yards or so.

Accubonds are expensive but I get them from the nosler second store. Normally about half price.
