Yeah, I quit on the corn for now. The turkey and coons were having a field day at my feeders. I plan on trying for a good axis buck this year for a euro mount. I shoot 3-4 axis does a year for meat but haven't taken a buck in a while. I saw a sounder of about 12 pigs crossing my pasture a few weeks ago but haven't seen much swine activity since. Lots of WT fawns dropping. Its going to be a great year for antlers. There is so much food that Deer are not coming to my feeders at all. Heck, I've only got one pig coming in regularly.
Exotic game ranches all around us. Had a dead blackbuck fawn in front of my gate this winter. One of my new neighbors up the road just added kangaroos and eland. I've seen loose fallow deer in Pipe Creek....free safari if they get out!Nice axis. Your area, Bandera, Medina, Pipe Creek, is beautiful axis country.
My place in Blanco is on the Little Blanco River. We used to have axis deer, which I think followed the bottoms from Kendallia, but the neighbors have decimated them.
A friend populated Wimberley with axis trapped in Pipe Creek too.
Anyway, all I hunt is swine, so I've been hurting the last couple years.
One reason the Hill Country is so great. You literally never know what you may see.Exotic game ranches all around us. Had a dead blackbuck fawn in front of my gate this winter.
