Can't disagree with you there. I have been pretty happy with the Bergara B14 as an alternative though.
 
I am confirming with GRS if indeed this will fit a non-Bergara action, but am interested. The action will probably fit, but it's the bottom metal that concerns me. I don't feel like breaking out a router, haha.
