Which powder does your wife's '08 like pushing the 150 ELD-X? ThanksWow! Thanks for the post, just ordered one for my wife's tikka 7mm-08. Have been looking for an upgrade for a while. Have to be honest, she's been happy with her Burris ballistic ret. out to 400yds. But Since I've been loading the ELDX 150's now I've been guesstimating 700yd hits on steel. Soooooo the upgrade is for her rifle but I really have been enjoying her tikka
No attitude at all, I'm just trying to figure why your promoting and buying cheap scope as this is the advice you give to other folksThat's the big bean's normal attitude.

I don't believe this to be true anymore, lots of great glass well under the price of a rifle to be had these days,gerrybaker1960 said:
Simple rule: Spend + - 2X on glass as rifle cost.
$1400 rifle, $2500 scope.

All I can say is I don't see military snipers using scopes <$1500.ButterBean said:

So your putting your new scope on a $150 rifle?Just don't think any cheap scope equals a Schmit, Swaro or Zeiss. I own plenty of all brands and there is a difference.
No one is testy at all, Mr. Baker critiques everything from how folks take pictures of guns to don't buy cheap scopes and then puts up a post like this, I'm just a little behoovedEverybody sure seems to be a little testy lately.
That's how I'd do it, You got no answers so you CrawfishAs BB says: "Remember.....Don't argue with stupid people,They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience"
So I'm done debating with him by following his advice.
"ignore"
I'll make you the same offer I have made 5 others on this site, I have access up to 1 mile of shooting range while the crops are out, load up your high dollar stuff and a Rangefinder and head this way (as you obviously have plenty of money) and I'll let you pick which rifle you want me to shoot ( I have 3ea ) 2 with Bushnell Forge's and one with a Bushnell Nitro ( all second hand stuff ) 308, 25-06AI and 270 respectfully, You pick the distance, No Kestrel's, No spotters you call your own wind and then we will post the results here, I'll even switch to my Old SWFA straight 10X if it will make you feel any better, Indianapolis is the closest airport if you want to fly in, I'll pick you up thereAnd BB, I forgot this one, The +$3000 Zeiss I got "used" at Amazon for $1600. On my $700 243 AI.
When you don't spend 5 grand on a rifle you can buy good glass. (chuckle)
The Helos is going on a $250 22RF.
