Good Weight for a Hunting Rifle

If I am packing in I really don't care. 10 or 11 pounds is fine I can hunt hills all day with that. I have a 6.5Lb .260 Rem scoped and loaded that is my canary grass gun. We old guys still push some slough bottoms for the REALLY old timers in the family. Canary grass made me cry when I was 8 and it makes me want to at near 50. Most of my guns run 7.5 to 9 pounds loaded, but other than the 260 I never decide on a rifle to carry by weight...yet.

7.5 before optics
This is good 👆🏻
My rifles are all 7 to 8 lbs before optics. All factory production rifles and 2 are sub-half moa. 2 x 30 cal; Steyr and Winchester M 70. Haven't shot 3 yet; .264 Win Mag but expect sub-half moa when I finish load development.

I built 3 or 4 rifles a year in September and shoot 3 or 4 animals in October.

With scope, sling, bipod, cheek rest, ammo, and rear bag...... I am lucky to keep them under 10 pounds.

Here is a Rem700 250 Sav I built in 2020 with a Lilja barrel and Gold coin in the bolt handle..... at 8.25 pounds that is great light weightiness for me...... first gun to get a deer in 2020.
