Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it at all and it is a fine round ............ on paper, In the end it's the person behind the trigger that makes the difference, I do not care if I have to dial 4 mils or 4.5 mils as I'm dialing anyway, Ditto for wind holds, It won't turn you in to Carlos Hathcock when you pick it up even though it the internet say's it does

It is the iphone of cartridges for me. The fan boys spoil it for me. It doesn't do anymore than what we had before.....unless you believe the hype that it can drop a elephant at 2000 yards with no drop or drift.

I know that this forum is for us "Shooters/Hunters" to mostly gain knowledge from each other, help each other out and possibly sell/trade/buy some needed hunting shooting components. We mostly like the 6.5 bullet because of the ballistics. When the 6.5mm first came out it was a winner right out of the gate. Now after years of technology manufactures are consistently trying to improve this bullet to gain some of the market share. We built a .260 when it first came out as a wild cat 308 case. Years later we have had and still have several .260s and will always have this caliber in our stock. Currently going a little faster with a 6.5X 284.
I read this forum so I am guilty as the rest of you, but for the life of me I can't see why there are 30 posts on the 6.5 Creedmoor with not really any substantial information on the cartridge itself, just that most think that it was over HYPED from Hornady. Seems to us like a wasted thread people's time reading and responding. Personally, I don't care if you shoot a 6mm Creed or 6.5 Creed or any other Creed. It's only a name on the cartridge, but like non other. The shooting world either like the Creed and owns them or doesn't like the Creed and we believe it is just because of the name "Creedmoooore" along with some publicists hyping the cartridge on the internet and shooting forums.
To each his or her own opinions. We will still keep shooting the .260 Rem, 243 Win. If you are a handloader it really doesn't make a difference what the cartridge is called. We just load brass with powder, place a bullet in and shoot for fun, hunting or competition.

I make fun of it, maybe because of its cult following and because I don't follow the latest trend.
This is a long range hunting forum and I read it for information. I don't "Hunt" at long range but I wish to learn some long range shooting skills.
Parts of Europe have use the 6.5 swede for years on Moose, I expect they are not hunting at long range.
I think the 6.5cm was designed for long range target because of its ballistics and the ammo, components availability and technology focus was on targeted toward target work.
The hype and suggestions that imply its going to replace sniper rifles the world over keep coming. I'm sure it's capable in a military role against humans but a .223 set up for long range in a sniper's hands might be somewhat effective on enemy soldiers at a fair distance. It could be a step backward as the ranges are being extended with bigger rounds. Dialled correctly the bigger .308 is probably more effective than the 6.5.
I'm sure it's capable and n it's class, most are but it's not for me and I don't have a use for one at the moment.

I have two Creedmoors that are great shooters but not the best choice for long range hunting for game bigger than deer. Need more energy for that.

I was in the Corps 50 years ago and the 7.62 (308) was long range 1K+. sniper round! IT RULED! AND it is STILL USED TODAY within the TEAMS, USMC, & Special Forces.

Was responding to CBH Australia. Not hating on the .308. I shot em in the corps too but they and others are moving away from it was my point. USMC specifically is moving to the 300 WM specifically to for the purpose of fielding rifle they can shoot to 1000+. Biggest complaint for years has been the range limitations with the .308 in the military platforms. I'm sure they will still carry. 308 gas platforms. Units with a little more leeway are carry different 6.5 gas guns.

I will respectfully jump off of this train due to others having more knowledge, information, and stamina to continue than i do.

I don't hate the CM just the thought by "some" that you can kill dino's at 1K. Its a great cartridge for its use but the marketing hype IMO has spawned a perspective its a kill everything any distance. It was designed with right twist with high BC bullets to maximize its potential. This is called good engineering with great marketing. The real issue for me is the complete lackey approach by so called writers that all other cartridges are irrelevant! When I see a 300 WM compared to a CM with a 180 gr at 2900 fps I laugh at the attempts to "prove" the concept they want to foster.

Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth", is a law of propaganda (marketing) that psychologists liken this to be known as the "illusion of truth" effect.

This is where I'm at. Nothing wrong with it, doesn't make you a sheep to have purchased one, no beef with it whatsoever. But don't post videos comparing vlds in the creedmoor and soft points in the .300 win and say "why the 6.5 beats 30 calibers for long range". Idiotic.

I own one because I won a kimber hunter at a NRA banquet. I was a RSO at. 1000 yard range in New Orleans. There is no cheaper way to get started than hornady ammo and Savage rifle. The combos almost always shot sub moa.

it will out performed the average 308 at 1000 yards because of the higher bc.

I don't consider it a ideal long range rifle especially at sea level. Just not enough case level.

it is a ideal 400 /500 yard deer rifle in good hands


I heard about all the longer shoots on elk with soft Bullets but that not for the average joe!

I don't much care for the fan boy ********, but we need them shooting if we are going to hang on to our second amendment rights

The funny thing is I would likely have one if I didn't just LOVE the .270 Win probably because was my first rifle 53 years ago. Do the the math. I have a new .270 1:8 twist build in progress which tells you something. The 6.5CM does not blow away the 6.8 Winchester IMO so no need for one for me. Its "just" a good cartridge that works for all types of shooters and nothing wrong with that.
