I shot them with 22s & Handguns. The new balls broke. Old wound balls looked like a fishing reel birds nest. Never tried 300.Anyone actually tried this? I'm curious what the ball looks like after.

My dad died at 58 in 2012, and I'm no where near being over it. Don't think you actually heal from that kind of hurt.I think about my dad being 60 when he passed on. He never to got to see his grand kids. I have been lucky, I have been able to see my grandchildren. My oldest grandson is starting into shooting. I got them there first 22 rifles. My younger grandchildren, I will around to get them their first rifle too. One of the biggest things I miss is not have my father around to see his grand kids.
I haven't shot a golf ball at 300 but I have shot dimes at 200 and these are one shot at eachAnyone actually tried this? I'm curious what the ball looks like after.

I think of my father often. He taught me a lot. My brother and I still have his home. I was very glad to have him after I got out of Vietnam in 1970 after a year in combat under my belt.My dad died at 58 in 2012, and I'm no where near being over it. Don't think you actually heal from that kind of hurt.
I cut a Golf Ball open on the school bus in 4th grade, Early 60's, yes I carried a small fingernail cleaner with the tiny knife blade back then, I got to the center core and Sprayed Mercury allover me and the bus, it got into my eyes and I had to go to the DR to have my eyes washed out and checked for damage. I got into a little trouble but not much because I along with everyone at the school didn't know there was Mercury inside. so it was a mistake that could happen to anyone at the time and the knife thing back then was no big deal. but today, they would have HUNG me for Terrorism.Anyone actually tried this? I'm curious what the ball looks like after.

Kirsten Joy does the egg off hand at 300 yards with a .22 rimfire and hits on the 3rd shot un edited. Yes she is a championship shooter with tricked out (looks like 10.22)...but can be done. Watch it on you tube.....she is great..Golf ball or egg shoots are fairly common across the BR and varmint shooting sports, and they have been for decades. I began 300yd/m egg shoots with my BR and varmint rifles the late 80's, and about 2 decades ago, we changed to golf balls. I have a 5 gallon bucket of used golf balls from golf courses, and these are cheaper, more durable and easily attached to a string or cable for swinging when hit. Often, we place the golf balls inside soda bottle caps that are nailed or glued down to a board or steel rail iron.
Usually, we shoot with 22 or 6mm BR/Varmint calibers like 222, 223, 223AI, 22-250, 6BR etc. After impacts, many of the balls are still serviceable with only a resealed hole with a small piece of the outside plastic broken off. However, impacts on the sides often break a sizable piece off the ball. Usually for the loose balls on the caps, we can get an average of 3 shots per ball before they are not serviceable for the shoots. Swingers vary based on the impact near or on the string through the center.
I believe I have a couple of impacted balls in my range bag in the shop, so maybe tomorrow I will locate these and post pics.
