Just wanted to update you all on my progress with my DE 338 Edge recently recieved.
So far been out twice with the new gun. First trip to satisfy myself by running the barrel in with 27 shots at 100 M and lots of cleaning.
Yesterday the fun stuff started.
Conditions 89 degrees, 29.7 PP, 198 ft alt and 61 % RH.
Wind off the right at 3 o'clock 2-3 mph gusting.
Shooting off bipod with rear bag.
My 340 M swinging steel target was gonna be in a world of hurt ! Info into NF exbal- 5.5 moa up, .25 right- 4 shots dead centre, group average 2 " high of centre.
Next the 415 M target- Info in - 7.5 moa up, .5 right- 4 shots dead centre, 2 in the same hole, group average 1 " high of centre.
Things were looking good !
Then I turned and looked out to the white steel target staring me out from 700 M away. You know that cheeky look they give you ? Well, I'll show him !!
Taped a ballon to the target so I could see the strike. Info in 16.75 moa up, .75 right. First shot, booooom,, swoooosh....... SMACK !!! DEAD CENTRE MASS in the middle of the 8 " white circle. Loved looking at that big black mark on the plate. Next 2 shots 2 " higher and 2 " left. Last shot I pulled a little high on the edge of circle at 12 o'clock. Group vertical impact point looked about dead on with exbal.
In summary this gun kicks *** !! I never felt like I could miss. All shots would have been fatal clean kills in the vital area.
So far, very, very good.
Thankyou Shawn for a killer rifle.
God help the deer Down Under !
