I enjoy the forum. Very informative. Hope we don't lose creative contributors. Sarcasm has no place in this type of forum. Toxic behavior doesn't promote open exchange of information. If someone wants more detail, there is a respectful manner to request it. I'm as big a fool as anyone at the local bar with long time friends where friendly trash talk is expected. Doesn't belong here. Even rookies should be welcomed. We all needed to start at some level and thank God for the mentors that share knowledge respectfully. One of my favorite movies with "Road House" with Patrick Swayze. Favorite line from the movie was "be nice!"

I do not own a Sherman of any caliber. I probably would build one; however, I only own and only shoot Ruger 77s and the Ruger 77 action does not seem to be a good candidate action due to the shorter magazine box.

Actually, the Sherman MAX cartridges are a perfect fit for a magnum bf M77 action, 3.430" mag box will fit them with a little room to spare and get good performance from them with the heavy high bc bullets. Maybe some slight modification to the feed rails, but that would be it.

please dont assume that this thread is about Phoeniceltic and the thread he referenced. ITS NOT one post or one person!!
ex: I have had people post things like "he doesn't care if he hurts someone", etc.
The best way to handle things, IMO, is for members to self monitor and call people on
this kind of crap so it doesn't get out of control. I have no allusions that everyone needs to love Sherman anything! Just don't post garbage with malicious intent about ANYONE on the forum!

Ive been staying out of this the last couple days to let it play out. I think it's now a good time for me to comment, and then close the thread after people have a day to read it.
First of all, we ALL make mistakes and say things we shouldn't, and my intent was to have an adult discussion on this so that we can put a stop to it. Phoeniceltic ended up being the scape goat because of timing. This was never intended to be about a certain post or person, but rather an attitude, that IMO, needed addressing. Throw the name SHERMAN right out of this thread and each of you decide which name you want to interject, but come from an attitude of, treat people like you want to be treated!
Im actually very pleased with the outcome, for the most part, because it shows when people can discuss things maturely, it opens all of our eyes and helps us to do a better job and helps the entire forum function like it was intended. Self monitoring is FAR better than Len having to step in and be a babysitter!
Just because this forum is all about guns, I never intended to form a firing squad!
Lets all move on now and use each of our God given gifts for good. Im speaking to myself here as much as anyone. If I've offended anyone, and likely have, Im truly sorry for that!…......Rich

I have a 6.5 Sherman based on the 270 case. My wife and friends dont understand why I am always tinkering with it. My gunsmith said it best when he told me about the first 300 WSM he put together with a 15 twist barrel and zero free bore. He told me he was very disappointed when the second load he tried was a tack driver. Took all the fun out of it. My Sherman is a tack driver also, I just like experimenting with it.

Wow! Unfortunately, i cant add much to what has been already said. The list of people i follow on LRH is made up of people whose opinion i respect (and usually agree with even tho i dont completely understand). My safe includes stock over the counter rifles as well as Ackleys and Gibbs chamberings. No Shermans YET but the quest for speed and accuracy will ulitmately move me there. In the mean time, please keep tantalizing me with possibilities of cartridges and loadings i havent thought or heard of yet.

Well Alibiiv, since you've placed me in the corner what exactly did I do wrong? Just because nobody else is crazy enough to point out the constant derailment of threads for the "Shermans"? The thread in question where I posted this had nothing to do with Straight Wall Cartridges or Improved shoulders or Wildcats whatsoever.

I'm on this site to learn. Over a few years I have seen much. After a while, a person paying attention can start figuring out who knows what, consistently. When information gets published and subsequently verified over and over, you can smile and think clearer on which way you want to go.
I have seen some of best contributors and sponsoring contributors answering questions on topics that doesn't even involve products or services they are even tied to.
There is a big fat handful of guys right here that you can pretty much take to the bank, their opinions and experiences. Better yet, they take the time to even answer a pointed technical question on an instant message, on just about anything.
Turn the page if you don't want or need to hear it. I do.

I suspected and even predicted that I would receive a response such as this one from you; still confrontational!! My response is that if I have to explain it to you, you probably wouldn't understand what I am saying. What I have written mimics just about every comment on this post; yet, you have selected me to explain "what exactly did I do wrong?" And........I didn't "put you in the corner", you did that all by yourself!! I'm done with your games, this is supposed to be fun forum not a forum for debates, negativism, criticism or for confrontation. My response to the drama is quite simple:

Hello Rich, I totally agree with what you have posted here. You might want to read my last posting #69, it will elliminate the drama here; it works for me every time. Negative people and negativity simply wear me down and I don't have any place it in my life for it. I'll be seventy-four this year, at fifty-three I had two heart attacks, that changed my life entirely. From that point on in my life I eliminated all of the negative people in my life and all of the negativity in my life!! I am on this forum to enrich my hobby and my life, and not to bring angst into it. You're a good guy, keep doing what you are doing and posting what you have been posting.
