Fluted bolt for Savage/Stevens

Yall are resurrecting the dead with this one. Chad no longer works on anything Savage for any purpose.

It's duly noted on #10 and his 1st post here. He does not know Chad's status but at least recognized that it is an old thread.

Hey Chad,

I know this is a pretty old post, but are you still able to flute a savage bolt? I recently purchased the 110BA .338LM and I'm looking to find someone that can make that happen. Thanks for your time.

He's simply looking for a recommendation and that's why I recommended ...

So as Rhian ...

Look into Home Page, all my fluting is going their direction.

Just a note on fluting Savage bolt bodies. The factory Savage rifles usually have .703"-.7045" bolt race IDs. Most Savage factory bolts are .696" OD. The factory fit is pretty sloppy. If you flute a factory bolt you are further removing surface metal from the already small bolt body OD.

I highly recommend if your going to spend the money getting a Savage bolt body fluted that you go ahead and start with a .701" OD aftermarket bolt body.

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
