I bought a Savage in 7-08 for my daughter when she turned 12. She went out and killed an elk and a mulie every year for the next 4 years. I had the stock shortened for her, and put a muzzle brake on it. The brake may have been unnecessary, but she sure did shoot that rifle well.
I took it out a couple years ago for old time and shot a 5 point bull and a cow.
It still works.
