So you can hunt them in both the spring and the fall. At some point the sows have to have cubs (the spring??) and i would think it wouldn't be a good idea to hunt when there are cubs.

you aren't allowed to take any bear in a family unit, and when the sows come out of their dens they have already had the cubs, they are born during hibernation. Only a bear that is old enough to be on it's own (2-3 yrs old usually) is legal.

congrats. I wish I lived in a place I could hunt bear each year. was it spot & stock or bait? I'm guessing by the distance it was spot & stock?

Spot and stalk, hunting with bait is a big no no in these parts. Actually not even allowed to take a bear on a gut pile here.

so most bear hunting is done with a rifle or are you allowed to run hounds?

I'm not 100% sure on whether or not your allowed to use dogs but I think thats a no here as well. I know that you can use them as retreivers for birds but I don't think that your allowed to use them on any big game. Once again I'm not possitive on this.
