What are the pre-fired diameters of the CE solid rounds and the Barnes rounds?

CE solids are .4455 (.458 on the cannelure) and Barnes are .458

Ive seen this when fire forming to the ackley chamber but never to that extent. I always have to trim to square up the mouth after forming. Makes me wonder if the bullet dragged the brass out of the chamber. Is it over max length?

The exiting bullet pulled the brass longer on 1 side?

Annealing? Over done. Supper soft brass necks.

What bullet was fired? It looks as if the brass was crimped deeply into a cannelure and then dragged out as the bullet left the case.

Sorry, I misspoke calling the bands a cannelure. These are banded solids.

You may be on to something, have you tried not crimping or less crimping to see if you get the same brass elongation? If not, I would experiment with no crimp and lighter crimp.

500 grn CE Solid so it was crimped over the cannelure

Why was it crimped? Factory load?
Crimping is not necessary with the .460 with proper fitting dies.

I have used 11 different bullets from 300-600 grains and 16 different powders never crimped a single one. It shouldn't be necessary.

Both the Weatherby and Norma brass is made at the same plant. Reviews I have done never determined any varience, both being interchangeable.
