I made my son a Ruger 77 Hawkeye in 300 RCM with 180 accubonds. I helped him break the barrel in and made a load development but it was only single loading. He took it hunting last weekend and couldn't chamber a second round properly without gouging the brass and forcing it in. Anyone have had this issue happen to them?
I thought it was maybe the bullet so I made new ones with Hornady SST, Sierra pro hunters, swift sciroccos and cutting edge lazers at different COAL and they all had problems feeding... so I atleast took projectiles out of the equation.
It's a very accurate rifle printing 0.8" or less during barrel break in and load development so I would want to fix this rifle so my son can continue to use it. Thanks for your time and help in advance. Aloha!!
Below is his final load with 180 grain Nosler accubonds @ 2855 FPS.... a cleaning shot followed by 3 shots in a row.
