Federal's new Long Range loads--Long range trophy bondeds

Finally got some 7mm 155 gr in! Ordered from midway, they were out of stock within 5 hours of my notification email. I called federal and he said they should be more readily available by late May/early June.

I sectioned this bullet (it should be noted that I didn't quite make it to half way through the bullet) and so far I'm loving the looks! Big hollow point in the tip as advertised but also a hollow pocket between the tip and the lead. My arm got tired from using a file. This weekend I will file down to the middle of the bullet and polish out the file marks so I can get some better pictures.

I'm thinking these bullets will expand as good if not better than advertised! And I'm sure they will penetrate through bone and at high velocity, with the back half being solid copper... I don't think they have a choice! Very excited to try on game.

I settled on a load with 180gr eldm's in my 28 nosler for spring black bear, but this summer I will work up a load and hopefully take an elk, deer and, if I draw a tag, an antalope with the edge TLR
Nice looking bullet! I will be interested to see what minimum expansion velocity is? The nose of the jacket looks a little thick, but the tip and hollow point will help.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw how thick the jacket was... then I thought about solid copper barnes bullets... throw in a gigantic hollow point, hollow plastic tip, and soften the center of the bullet with some lead.... I think it outta expand beautifully. But, we will see come hunting season

Well I'm still not completely half way through, but closer than yesterday. Starting to see a better picture of how hollow that tip really is.... by the looks of it, I think I could throw this thing at a wall fast enough to make it expand

Yes, like the hollow cavity, but man that jacket is thick, hope the copper is soft

I wish they had been 160-165 grains, but 155 may be ok due to the majority being copper

If he isn't half way thru the diameter of the bullet, the jacket will appear thicker that it is.

The 3rd from the left was pulled from an Oryx at 997 yards, using data provided in the Shooting Times article, impact velocity would have been 1800. Looks like it would probably go even lower than that.

Here is a bunch more from the same article. 15 yards, out to 997. All African game

Impact velocity on 997yds, I came up with 1685, and that's the highest velocity they tested with a 26" barrel. Don't know if he shot the oryx with the 23" barrel or not. Either way it's a winner

They look like nice bullets. But they have been on Midway's site for at least 18 months and in that 18 months Federal produced a 5 hour supply? Also I wouldn't believe anything anyone at Federal told you on the phone. I called last year and they said these bullets would ship in a month- so they were off by a year. Not much worse than having a load you like and not being able to get components.

Interesting. I used 2910 mv and .625 bc using strelok, and got 1803 impact velocity.

Shot the 175 edge tlr in 300 RUM. Worked up load with rel 26 per their card they supply in box of bullets. Couldn't get near max load they show using same LTO and other specs have shot forever in that rifle. Have some of the 155 grain to try in 280 AI but haven't gotten to it yet.
