Hello ,
I have just been loading some .243 win with 90gr Lapua Scenar bullets.
I was using two types of brass both factory loaded originally and on their first reload.
The two types were Remington and federal.
They were both sized and primed ok.
When I fitted the bullets the Remington all came out OK.
Not all but most of the Federal looked like they collapsed.
The shoulders had been kinked.
Is this common could it be faulty cases or faulty set up in some way?
I tried some more of each and the same happened again rem OK Fed squished!

Thanks
Jeza

I'm assuming they were fired in the same gun.
Was the brass trimmed to the correct length? Sometimes the neck length can be different and the crimp may actually conact the case on one make and not the other. I always make sure I adjust the seating die for each brand of brass. May not be necessary but I'm paranoid when things are not the same.

Hello cowboy thanks for the reply.

They were all in the same gun.
They were not trimmed to length and measuring them shows them all to be long!
I havent got that far in my reloading career yet so that looks like my next purchase.

Thanks
Jeza

Hello ddubas

I am still experimenting but so far my best load is:-

42gr of N160
Col of 71.86MM
Rem 9 1/2 primers
These went into .46" @ 100Mtrs

42.5gr and 43gr loaded but not fired yet.

My chrony is still on order so have no velocity feed back yet.

Pressure is OK in my gun.

Cheers Jeza
