What's your favorite hiking boot for hunting the wet days (rain and snow). Think October-November elk and deer hunts in the mountains of Idaho. Wanting something I can wear for a 7-10 day hunt without having wet feet the entire time
Thanks!

Hanwag Tatra Top GTX. The only true backpacking boot we've tested that has made it thru every fly-in moose and caribou hunt in the Yukon and never leaked. All others have leaked. Edit: Also, very comfortable, no hot spots on heels and really doesn't require break-in. New, used, I'll wear mine to work for a week or two before hunting season, and they're ready to go.

There is no boot that will work for being in the rain. Second your pants get wet; your socks get wet, then it seeps into your boot. Of course you're wearing a waterproof booty boot, so now all the moisture that's in the boot can't get out and even if the sun comes up, it will take forever to dry.

That said, like for post rain and wading through light snow that doesn't require a snow shoe, I've had a bunch of boots work. Salmon quest. Crispi's. Etc.

They're all fine. They've all failed at one point too. I wear boots out probably the most out of any other bit of hunting gear.

Kenetreks have worked well for me…any of the made in Italy 🇮🇹 boots…Zamberlans, Crispi, Kenetrek
Foot/boot maintenance as it applies to hiking in the mountains in weather is a science unto itself…socks, lacing etc…blisters, wet socks and cold toes ratchet misery up exponentially…gaiters too for snow and wet grass/brush….lots of informational videos out there.

Wear what the USMC wears.
They do not want Marines dealing with Trench Foot and they are made in Portland Oregon. I have wore em all and 10-11 days in the Rocky Mountains are shot and will not make it a full 2nd season. My USA borne Danner s have gone 7 years plus and then it's only a resole that is needed. If it's USA made they are retractable for 1/2 cost of a new pair. And they look like broke in New boots again..
All Danners with the US flag tag are made in Portland Oregon. Any of their other non usa version may say waterproof. My experience is one soaking rain and they are no longer.

And if you are a Marine you already know if it has the EGA on the outside heal it's approved to be worn in battle.
These are as well as about 7 others.
These were the standard issue last I heard and can be purchased at the Px for about 1/2 the price.

Here are the other USMC approved boots as they have the EGA on the outside of the back heel.

Stay with the USA made. While the others non USA made look more fashionable. Their hardiness does not compare to the USA made version. Reason many of the western wild fire fighters wear em.

Have a set of Danner's in a logger type of boot, they are the most comfortable boots that I've ever owned. No idea about wet weather performance since they weren't bought for, or used in those conditions.

well… i wear Muck Boots, Artic Pro: Tall and ankle ones. No wet or cold feet… and walk quite a bit in them… but not like mountain hiking,

I did wear them once in snow in MT elk hunting and they served me well… but we did nit climb mountains, or walk for miles..

Price not too bad, I thought all USA made Danner boots were about $700 when last I looked. Only a $10 increase for waterproof. Still it's a nubuck leather.
