280AI, Remington Action, TriggerTech, McMillian, 22" Proof Sendero Light 1:8.4" w/threaded brake that will be coming off for hunting season for packability and just in case it needs to be fired without ear protection, but mostly for sliding through the trees while it's strapped to my pack. March 2.5-25, 42MM. Shooting 168 grain bullets 1/2 to 3/4 MOA at 2900 FPS all shooting off bipod. Only 150 rounds through this barrel so far and I think I can do better but have been reluctant to go too crazy due to RL26 shortage. As soon as I find an 8 pounder I will do some fine tuning with seating depth and maybe primers.
I know I said 270wsm earlier, but I just got this 6.5 prc that i decided is going to be my elk gun this year. Its the CA BA tactical with a PST Gen 2 5-25 - scratch that...she just got an upgrade to a VX6HD 4-24x52. No time for load development, but I am stoked with the accuracy of the precision hunter ammo and the 143gr eldx is cruising at a comfortable 3000 fps
For purely long range and putting the smack down on a elk the 338 norma would be hard to beat with the 250 or 300 gr. bergers, 300 win mag. with 210 or 230 might give it a run for it's money. But then theres recoil to deal with. For short to mid rande 300 win or 338 win. would be my choice. I've shot a couple bulls at 100-250yds with my 338 win. mag. and that energy it carries is impressive when you shoot one, elk are a tough animal but shot placement is the key factor. Good luck with whatever you choose.
Weatherby Vanguard Wilderness, .30-06, 24" factory barrel, glass bedding and timney trigger added, Leupold VX2 3-10x50, Barnes 168 GR at 2840 seated to .04 off lands shoots bug holes to 300 when I do my part. My confidence rifle/load.
If I can't hit with this rifle, then I am off... it's definitely proven itself.
I've always experimented with rifles/calibers via trade/selling to buy, but I've only shot 3 cow elk in 29yrs out here (Utah) 1st was a PF Mod 70 FWT rebarreled from 7x57 ( could not get it to shoot!) to 30-06 with a 23" Douglas. Leupold VXII 2x7 and Hornady 180 Light Magnum loads. 2nd was a Mod 700 BDL SS in .375 H&H with a Leupold XIII 2.5x8 and handloaded 300gr Sierra SBT. and last one was with a custom MGA (Mod 700 lightened action, synthetic stock) SS but coated, 338WM with handloaded Barnes 185XLC. Leupold 2.5x8 also. I liked all three. I gave the '06 and the 338 away to two minister friends of mine. I gave the .375 H&H to a young man in my church. I now am down to "one only" big game rifle...a Christiansen Arms Mesa in 300WM. I am searching for the best load using the Barnes 150 TTSX. It has a Vortex Razor HD in 1.5x8. I really like it. Its "Sporter weight" by feel, haven't weighed it yet. It doesn't really matter as its the only one I have right now, and if I hunt, it has to go too!

Weatherby Accumark 340 mag with 210 Nosler Partitions, Huskemaw 5-20 scope, shoots like a laser. But last year first blood, used a Weatherby MK V 378 mag, 235 BarnesTSX , Huskemaw 5-20 shot a nice cow elk. Such a fun gun to shoot.
