Congratulations.:) Glad you got some father/son time in.

Any day hunting with dad or son is a great day. Nothing better IMO, Those will make nice mounts.

Congrats! Nice looking antelopes. I am sure you will remember this for a lifetime.

Thanks guys, it was a trip I will never forget!! We had a ton of fun and big bucks were just icing on the cake!

Where in Wyoming where you hunting? I'm planning an antelope trip to Wyoming with my Dad next September. Neither of us have ever hunted outside of Illinois so this will be an adventure to say the least. I'm leaning toward hunting area 69 based on the low number of hunters allowed in this hunt area. I already have 2 preference points so I should get the buck tag. My Dad opted to just get the doe/fawn tag as he doesn't have any preference points.

we hunted unit 73 which requires 2 points each, honestly if i were you i would hunt unit 30, 31 or 32 for buck because you both can get buck tags and doe tags as well. research it but I think its 30 that you can get buck tags without any points. Itsright outside Casper to the east. If i were coming fromIllinois to do a antelope hunt i would for sure want buck tags. They dont get trophys out of this unit but good average bucks and the success rate was like 95% i believe and you can still build points. good luck!! Its a fun trip!!!

Thanks for the info, I'll check out the areas you mentioned. Any suggestions on a rifle for the trip? I've never owned a rifle but am considering a Savage 25-06 or Savage 270. Did you camp or stay in a hotel? We're looking to camp in order to keep cost down.

I would rethink area69,check google steamboat lake and look north. Aint saying there aint goats in there just that there are easier places to get nicer bucks

We did a hotel, but you can camp just about anywhere on blm land for 14 days. The rifles you mentioned are perfect for antelope. I shoot one rifle and that is a 300 win mag for everything. I have confidence with it and that s what you want.

Thanks for the advise, I'll check out the area North of Steamboat Lake. Any idea what hunt area this would be located in?

Looks like the area North of Steamboat Lake is Hunt Area 68 which has alot of public land, I'll look into this area as far as draw odds go.
