Hello,
We have recently finished a 800 yard rifle range here in NM at 6,500 feet. Winds always blow here in the foothills of the Rockies. I have a 6.5 x 284 and its a good accurate rifle, but am wondering how superior in terms of wind deflection the 180 grain VLD type of bullets might be in a 280 Ackley Improved rifle versus the 140 grain bullet in the 6.5 x 284? I know the 6.5 bullet gets blown about ten feet at 1,000 with a ninety degree , ten mph wind.
I'd really appreciate some experienced reply to my question.
Thank you in advance,
Gene S.
