Smart man, not something you want to do when rushed. You might take some of the epoxy and glue a nut and allen head bolt together and see if you can loosen it with the heat method. Kind of a trial run to see how much heat you might need. Thanks for all of the advice and ideas! I plan on working on it this weekend probably. Our deer season ends the 1st and I am trying to make the most of the last few days in the woods.
Someone mentioned earlier lightly tap in the next size larger torx bit .The crappy part is...the allen head is stripped so my plan is to use a dremel to cut a slot in it for a flat head screwdriver. I dont really see another choice outside of trying an easy out.
The Magpul stock or a chassis style is in it's future lol!!After all that hard work you'll deserve some good. Like a new Magpul Hunter stock
Mine never seemed to heat it enough. I considered getting one of those butane soldering guns. I finally heated with my propane torch, scary, and tapped in a torx bit. It felt like angels singing when it finally broke free.Yes. I've done the same. Takes awhile.
Drill out the center the diameter of the soldering iron tip, drop the tip in and wait. Use an extractor once it's hot enough. The crappy part is...the allen head is stripped so my plan is to use a dremel to cut a slot in it for a flat head screwdriver. Slotting is fine...if you have a MIG/TIG you can also weld onto the head of the screw to give you something for more purchase if needed. The crappy part is...the allen head is stripped so my plan is to use a dremel to cut a slot in it for a flat head screwdriver.
