Does anyone have experience with this round ? Everyone I know says to go with atleast a 300 preferably a 338. Of course these guys only hunted elk a few times, I have a 28 nosler that shoots lights out
Shots I'm told will be about 400 yds at max

Your 28 will kill any elk that ever walked, even way past 450. Provided you do your part, obviously! No need for a new bigger gun, unless you want one of course.

28 Nosler is PLENTY if you put the bullet where it needs to go.

I just took my bull with a 7RM pushing a 180 Hybrid @ 2996MV @ 662 yards. Elk went maybe 50 yards and piled up.
I have been on hunts where elk were taken with a .260 Rem w. 140 HVLD all the way up to .338 Edge w. 300 SMKs. All died quickly with a bullet put in the right place.

As Lance said that will be plenty of gun! Keep in mind that tons of elk have been killed with the plain old .270...not to mention 25-06 and even .243.
