Elk bullet comparison

I'm curious what your load is to be able to push that 200 gr ELD-X so fast? With 79 gr of H1000 I'm only getting 2970 fps with a 26" barrel. How long of a barrel?

In another thread You have a answer.
But I will post load here also with picture of bullet.

My load for 300 Win Mag
26" barrel ,10" twist
Lothar Walther super match barrel
200gr eldx with speed 3165fps and 1/4Moa
83.3 gr N570 in norma cases
Jump 1.15mm
OAL 3.49" or 88.6mm (now is longer due to the wear).
Speed vas going to the 3230, but that is too hot.

There is pic

What chrono are you using? Have you verified the speed with your app program? That seems really fast for a 300 Win Mag with 200 gr bullets.
I've never seen or heard of anything close to that speed with 200 gr pills. In a 300RUM yes but not a 300 Win Mag.
My c.o.a.l is 3.505" and I'm jumping them .120 I'm using 79 gr of H1000 behind them and I doubt I could get much more powder in there and I'm using Win Brass with Fed 215 primers.

Nice bullet performance.

Labradar
More that once verified on the range.
I think I have somwhere data from labradar but I must see.
I forgot to mention RWS magnum primers.

Here is hot load.
There was little primer pop up and mark on the case.harder recoil.

My load is so accurate I really don't want to mess with it. I'm jealous of that speed. I'd really like to be over 3000 fps with the 200 Gr ELD-X. I may tinker a bit more this year and see what max charge is as I'm not there yet.

Need some opinions: I am testing loads for elk hunting to 500 yards in a custom rifle chambered for the 300WM . I want to shoot either 210 Berger VLD Hunting , 210 Nosler ABLR or Berger 215 Hybrids. Defiance Deviant action , 24 " Proof bbl, and McMillan Stock. I can get velocities over 3000 and accuracy with all 3 but really am looking for the best HUNTING bullet. Performance in the field is my first criteria. Thoughts???
1) I would base my decision first on the accuracy / velocity that you are able to get
2) Just asking, but what advantage would you be looking for at 500 yards max with the vld / long range shaped bullets. In reality, these types of bullets are just beginning to show their ballistic advantages at about 500-600 yards range.
I would include the regular Accubonds and Partitions in the list too.

Why should an end user have to open up a bullet that is due to poor manufacturing? Maybe they need a tip on them so they will open more consistently. I like the ELD-X 200 grainers.
It's not due to poor manufacturing. It's due to the bullets bouncing around inside the box during transit. And if they put tips on them, they wouldn't do what Bergers are famous for... which is that they penetrate several inches, THEN expand. I shoot ELD-M in both of my hunting rifles. But the OP asked specifically about Berger and ABLR. So I was helping inform on how to get Bergers to open reliably

Good point!

All can tell you is in 2018 the 210 VLD running at 2940 dropped my 5x5 at 400yds like a stone. High shoulder shot but one and done. Split left front shoulder and we recovered 178 grains of bullet mostly under the right shoulder hide. Can't hope for much better performance than that......in my opinion.
