Eldm preferred jump.

With all the ELDs I have used in multiple calibers and bullet weights I have found .020" is the place I start and stay. It's a good distance off the lands for reliability and accuracy. Did the same with the AMAX before them.

That said they also do not mind a jump either again like the AMAX. In some rifles when I shoot factory loaded ELDs they are jumping .090" and still shoot great. Here is a 147 ELD group from my Creedmoor that was jumping .090. It's 5 shots at 650 yards. Shot the bottom three and saw one splash so i moved my POA up slightly and shot last two.

Been shooting the ELDs since they came out and really like them a lot.

Had good success with 0.041" to accommodate magazine length in a friend's .30-06. Didn't try any longer because it would not have fit the DBM. Sounds like .020 to .040 is the consensus.

Well, at .020" jump the 175 eld-x I use in my 7rum would about be falling out of the case... I'm at 3.650" on a roughly 4.1" throat... The 143 eld-x I use in my boy's creed is loaded to factory ammo oal and shoots well; I simply don't care what the jump is... It's a Hornady... Put it in the case and wiggle the trigger; if it pukes, then fiddle with powder and seating depth. Otherwise shoot it and forget burning up a ton of rifle life working up the load.

You might want to check the twist rates mate. Some of those high BC projectile will require a 1 in 9 twist

110 eld-x in 25-06AI - ran everything from .010 jump to .130 Sweet spot was .090 and .130 -- settled on .100

212 eldx bullets. 72.1 gr of H4831sc 300 win mag. 26" barrel. Remington long range. Seating depth didn't seem to affect accuracy from .060-.010 off the lands. I switched from 215 Berger's to the eldx because I switched to a magazine fed chassis. This was crucial to maintaining accuracy and fitting Aics magazine

What velocity are you getting out of your 300RUM with the 225ELDM?
I just started some testing with H1000 but the bullet holes looked a little like they were not stable. Could just be the splatter target also.

I'm loading 162gr ELDX in my 7mm rem mag and have found my magazine length to be the determining factor for COL so unable to get any closer to lands than .048, for a magazine fed hunting load.
That being said ....getting 1/2" groups with an off the rack Abolt

all rifles are different you must find the distance off the lands for your individual rifle. I agree that .020 is a good place to start. More than likely your rifle likes something a little more or a little less. Remember that more distance increases pressure in the case affecting velocity higher. Likewise less distance decreases pressure in the case affecting velocity lower.
