Just received my first two boxes of the new HORNADY ELD-X. I'm shooting 140gr.
A-max in my 6.5 Creedmor. Anybody started building a load for the 143gr eld's yet??
I was thinking of starting close to my 140gr load I'm shooting right now??

I just loaded 5 each at 42.2, 42.4 and 42.6 and am going to shoot them at 300 tomorrow if it's calm, 200 if it's windy. Not going to use the Magnetospeed on these but will shoot them over my Pro Chrono which is usually accurate depending on the sun. The Pro is usually about 10 fps slower than the Magneto but SD and ES are +/-2 fps between the two.

I loaded them at .020 jump so we will see how it goes. I like the bergers at 42.5 and primarily bought the ELD-X for a faster rifle but wanted to try them in the creed just for the fun of it.

If they shoot as well as the bergers I will try some on coyotes and maybe a Bear this spring to see how they perform. The bergers have been very good to me so not going to take this lightly.

My berger load: 140 VLD .020 jump, 210M, 42.5 H4350 for 2850 fps out of a 26" barrel

Got out to the range today with the ELD-X in the 6.5 Creed

Rifle 6.5 Creedmoor with #5 Broughton 26" 8 twist barrel

NXS 5.5-22x50 MOAR

Powder H4350
Primer Federal 210M
Hornady Brass fired twice, shoulder set back .002 and .002 neck tension after full length sizing.

34 degrees and overcast with calm winds at the start of test up to 10 mph from left to right at about 3/4 value by the end of the test.

The Boise Police were training at the longer range so I only had access to 200 yards today.

After setting up the target and Pro Chrono I shot two rounds at 200 yards to check my POI compared to my 140 VLD load.

I didn't make any adustments after the sighters of 42.4 gr.
My process went like this...I fired 3 shots of 42.2 then waited 5 minutes and fired 3 shots of 42.4 then waited 5 minutes and fired 3 shots of 42.6.

After that I fired the last 2 of 42.2, waited 3 minutes then fired the last 2 of 42.4, waited 3 minutes and fired the last 2 of 42.6. I had very little if any wind for the majority of the test but I did have a 5-8 mph wind on the last 2 of 42.6. I didn't make any corrections for the wind so the 1/2 MOA wind shift was anticipated.

42.2

42.6 The hole to the right is the factory hole to hang the targets on the rack in the store.

Speeds per shot, we can add about 12 fps to these for actual MV since the chrono was about 10 yards in front of the rifle.

I just loaded up 33 rounds at 42.6 to shoot further out and see how they do.

If you take the wind out of the 42.6 load it would be about 1/4 MOA

Thanks for info. I'm going to have some time to load some up in the next couple of days. I have a 28" factory full boar barrel on my ruger. The hard part is finding a day that's nice enough to go shoot.

I got my ELD'S thru my local store. It took a few weeks but they got them for me.

Thanks for the info.
I should be able to do some loading in the next day or so. The hard part is waiting for a day that's nice enough to test the loads.
It looks like the eld's shot pretty well up against the vld's.
My local store got ELD'S for me. It took a couple of weeks but they can do it.

I've been loading W-748 with 36.7grs. at 2680fps out of a 28" barrel. H4350 is not available yet. 748 is pretty temp. sensitive, so I'm looking to change it up. I'd hate to waist the resources if I'm going to change powders. Keep it going bait..

I have shot them through a 6.5 creed, 6.5-06ai, and 264wm using the same powder charges as a 140 Berger. All have bug holed at .010" off. I did notice at distance I get an occasional wild flier. Thinking it could be a slight consistency issue. Going to do a little sorting and try again.

Excellent shooting! Given the lack of vertical in these groups (except for the one shot), it looks like your loads are well dialed in. Nice work!

Shot a few more today, 422 yards called for 5.2 MOA, I only put 4.2 in the scope.
554 Yards called for 14 MOA and I put 14 MOA in the scope.

42.6 H4350, 210M, 143 ELD-X at .020 Jump at 2840 fps.
