Making plenty of new 22 Creedmor brass from once fired 308 W with a few dies and a step down process ..
First the 6.5 Creedmor FLS die then trim and then the 22 creed die FLS with some dry Graphite
neck lube ...

Easy as pie , effortless..... below is a pic next to her fat sister the 6.5 Creed

If you are shooting 55gr and under then the 22-250 is great, but if you want to go up to 70-80 grain heavies the 22cm is your huckleberry-----

sad, do you have to ream the modified 308 case necks? Seems like they would be pretty thick and might form donuts if not reaming

I am very aware about the 22 CM I have 2 of them. I am not saying why to the cartridge but the use of 308 brass for it. There are excellent options for 22 creed brass and used 308 wouldn't be my top 50 choices.

K, misunderstood--- but like feenix showed--- the price is a big reason, availability would be another one--- 308 always seems to be available in darn near and brand you prefer

What is the neck thickness after forming?

Alpha .22CM brass is $1.23/ea. SRP and top quality brass. So $150 with tax/shipping.

High quality .308Win brass would have to be free for me to even consider it.
Like Lapua .308 Palma brass, or Alpha .308 brass.

Personally, I would not be stepping down from .308 to .224 in only two steps. It would be a minimum of 4 steps for me, and probably 8 in all reality. I don't like going more than .010" per pass when necking down. Then an expanding mandrel, and definitely neck turning. Then a feesh anneal. That would be at least 7-11 steps for brass forming alone, or 500-900 passes in a press for 100 pieces of brass. To do this work on cheap brass makes no sense. To spend that much time and effort on good brass is not worth my time to do it to save $150.

I had to load 800 pieces of 6.5SS brass which only needed neck sized from slightly bigger than 7mm to 6.5mm when new. I did it in 3 steps with .305", .297", then .291" neck bushings. Then a .262" expander mandrel. No neck turning, luckily. That was 3200 passes in the press before I could load it. Then another during bullet seating. 4000 passes to load 800 rounds of ammo. It was a total PITA. No thanks.

Not the same thing, but I make 6.5 CM from. 308 Win. I have 1500 1x fired Lapua .308 cases that were from factory ammo that I fired, so basically free.

Anneal, lube em up, ram em in the 6.5 FL die, trim, and load. Neck thickness .014
It fits/ ships with no neck turning.

I did it because when I started loading 6.5CM I was given 500 pcs. of 1x fired Hornady brass, which is, "meh", and I was never able to get ES much below 28- 30fps. Now with my converted Lapua brass I'm down around 10 fps ES.

Takes a little time to do, but with minimal resizing/ only bumping the shoulders .0015 to .002, 100 pieces is enough to burn out a barrel.

Been busy ..
No donuts whatsoever ,,,kept it lubed with lanolin and graphite through the process
ended up at .255" to .257" average ...set the cutter to finish at .250"
thickness averaged .015" to .018"
Seat the bullet and you land on the money !

Running batches through trimmer takes no time at all ...
I have an abundance of 308 Brass , so it's a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing
I have my 6.5, 22 Creed as well as 308 all covered with availability ...

Time at the bench is therapy to me so I don't find myself lamenting about it
turn on the talk radio and just let it flow ....

The one gentleman mentioned he would go through all these steps etc...
6 times what I did ,,,,if you feel that's needed go for it....
I'll do it with 3 steps and done ...

Having just exhausted all resources on the internet abroad looking for 22 250 brass and found only 300 pieces of Norma for $335 I'm not exactly over joyed with the prospect of dealing with that again .....Thus I threw together this rifle on the quick and cheap to run it and balance the use ....again brass and component availability is NOT going to be taken for granted by me.....I know what the future holds.....it's NOT good..

There ya go , another guy that likes it simple and effective ....TY
In life you may find the many rituals people augment are perhaps
a few too many ....

Because ,,,that's why .....not sure if you have noticed but the economy is in freefall
Food is quickly becoming a commodity as it's increasingly rare and out of reach
if you don't crap ....

I hunt coyotes and chucks ....I'm not wasting money punching lil holes in paper
therefore I'm not worrying about getting that last .0001" in concentricity improvement out of my ammo ....1/2 MOA works for me....

I'm staying frugal .....The money I save with time at the bench , provides more $$ to buy more superformance ......
