Dream sheep gun

I, like many others, probably won't be able to afford a sheep hunt until close to retirement (other family priorities). #1 on my "list" would be a Dall Sheep, #2 is a Goat. Full-body mount on both. . . . dream big right??

I'm a few months out from receiving my dream rifle.

26 or 28 Nosler with a proof 26" barrel on a custom lightweight action, carbon fiber stock and carbon legged bipod for overall weight including bipod of 6.5 pounds, plus maybe a Schmidt bender fixed 10 power or Nightforce atacr for overall weight scope and bipod included of 8 or 8.5 pounds. Throated long for max powder capacity with the longest high BC bullets I can find.

Very nice rig! Impressive 130gr velocity for a 21" barrel. Impressive light weight too.

I am at 2820fps with a 22" that is a .25MOA load. A slower load is .1MOA.
Are you burning H4350? X-bolt.

no pic sorry but its a great question!!!!!! and a lot of great answers which makes Great reading and Dreaming, approaching my 60th year here im Content to say theres no bad answer, But theres this little Savage 270WSM ,md 14 American classic, thats been tripping my trigger finger off & on this past summer, and ya no she just won't quit, she's Berry happy with my reloads ,plays nice most of the time with my other Gals meaning rifles, ive not found any dings inside the safe door as yet ,but im sure theres been some heated arguments between the Gals . OOP'S I guess I voted, lol AVery Happy Belated CHRISTMAS to ALL, and Happy new Year!!!!!! very nice 270 wsm pix above, thks jjmp gun)gun)gun)

Very happy with my American Classic in 7RM as well, once I put a brake on her! Now sub .5MOA consistently. Best 5 shot group @ 400 yards in light Texas wind is 1".

Yes shooting 4350 but with Lapua brass. Barrel is broken in now and velocity has stabilized at 2960 using a magnetospeed. Shoots well at 200. I will take it out to 1000 later today.

shootin 4 fun CONGRATSon yur Sac 7mg & great shooting wit her !!! more custom's here but dat's ok its all good , Happy New YEAR everyone!

I'm thinking the Lapua brass does make a difference. Here are 2 groups at different accuracy nodes from my new X-bolt when I do my part. These are not flukes, they're very repeatable. 105 yards...The top one is 4 shots, bottom 3 shots (I didn't want to spoil it ;-) But I'd like to reach the 2900+ realm and keep the accuracy.

Nothing fancy on the Dall.....Remington 700 bedded in a McMillan KS stock, topped with a 3x9 Leupold in QR rings & bases. 30-06 with 180 Barnes.....

For the Stone, I stepped up to a 1st generation Remington 700 Titanium in 30-06 again, this time with 180 Accubonds.

Have since sold the Ti and built my ultimate sheep gun, a stainless 700, 23" Rock #3 fluted, in a no paint McMillan Classic stock with Edge Technology fill, Leupold VX-3 2.5-8 in Talleys, chambered in 7-08, weighing in at 6 lb - 13 oz empty.

It is milled out for a Wyatts box, and while I have good loads for 162 Amax or 168 Bergers, I put the regular mag box in it and have great matching loads of either 140 BT's or Accubonds at 2940.

alf, congrat's on two very fine trophys, thanks for sharing with us, their truly Beautiful once in a life time Rams,i'm also a big fan of the 708 and love mine also. jjmp
