the choices for a rebarrel on a short action rem 700 if all three had 26 inch barrels and shooting 100 grn bt bullets of the three 6mm gt 6/47 lapua or 250 ai would be the best for hunting up to deer size game at 500 yards max

I love the .250AI. If you build a 1:7", you could easily step up to a 131/133/135gr in the future for more energy.

I had a .250AI for years. 100 SMK or 100 TSX @ 3120+/- from a 23". Killed a coyote at 1327, and we shot quite a few javelina and some deer out to 350.
This is the way. #makequarterboresgreatagain

Interesting 3....I'm assuming you have your reasons. A 6mmRem AI or 6mm Creed could certainly be capable deer rifles....GT is pretty close, I guess.

I would choose a 250 Roberts AI for its larger case. I'd bet with quickload, you could find some decent powders. I find Quickload to tell you what true max is for bottleneck rounds, so I wouldn't go over, but I would correct the case volume and max pressure to your chamber and action strength.

Hey, I'd go with the 6mm Rem AI. I have a 6 mm Rem and a 6 CM. The Rem is the standard1:9 twist and the CM is 1:7. I should have just rebarreled the Rem to 1:7. A 6mm Rem AI 1/7 would be a lot of fun, 85 gr TSX's up to 115 Berger's
Take Care, Rick
