Demonizing Hydroelectric?

Science conveniently leaves out plant methane impact on global greenhouse gases. Gee wonder why? Plenty more on this.

"Despite increasing evidence that plants are important components of the terrestrial cycle of the powerful greenhouse gas methane (CH4), vegetation and trees are yet to be included in the global CH4 budget."

Having worked my adult life in the power production industry, I promise you 99% of what a leftist says about hydropower is uninformed lies. Wind, solar and batteries are the best way to destroy America and make your power bill go up 4-600% in the next decade. Germany went woke and all into solar and wind, destroyed their nuke plants and this year they started taking down windmills to mine the coal under them. People are suffering under crippling utility bills. My niece lives in Ireland, loves socialism and enjoys four hours of no power every single day.

If we all switched to electric cars we would cripple the grid and sit home enjoying a 60 degree house all winter. And oh by the way, 97% of all CO2 generated on EARTH is naturally occurring. America accounts for 6/10th of 1% of the rest of the CO2 and we have lowered our output for the last 10 years, just ask NOAA.

How about say $3,000 dollar annual Tax credit if a guy heats his cabin/ house with firewood that was cut, split, dried and burned by the occupant. No windmill in the yard or solar panels on the roof needed, just a wood burning stove, a chainsaw, a wood splitter and a 4X4 for a bit of woods/ forest management. Fewer forest fires, more good exercise and the dead trees don't go to waste. Saves the Smokejumpers, a bit of work.
No no no.

The grid is ancient and can barely keep up now without everyone in a electric car.
They started shutting down the coal fired power plants locally about 14 years ago even after they preformed upgrades to get emissions down.
And I don't even want to get started on the mining practices for a limited resource to make those batteries for the green vehicles.

I have observed a lot of scientist and they have interesting personalities. I believe many scientific fields are self policing because they will turn on each other very quickly if another scientist states nonfactual data or even outright lies.
I don't necessarily agree with the last sentence. From what I have seen, the scientific community tends to turn on a scientist when he challenges or strays from the accepted hypothesis such as the causes of global warming, even if the straying scientist has evidence that backs himself up.

RIVIAN EV Plant in my town of Social Circle.
Rivian started a $5 Billion EV Plant in our town on 2,000 acres of land and the State of GA was going to give $1.5 Billion of TAX Payer money to Rivian. The plan is to have 7,500 jobs to start then going up to 14,000.
Social Circle has been up in Arms since this started. All our taxes have gone up and so have the price of our property.
Now two years of construction on the 2,000 acres has come to a HALT. Still trying to find the details, but hop that it won't be finished.
There was no plan on housing up to 14,000 families, no water, sewer, power, Schools, roads, housing, environmental impact.
liberal billionaire George Soros bought $2 Billion shares in Rivian.

The Town of Social Circle (where we live) could not even have a meeting with the developers. GA State Government approved with no input from the citizens that live here.

I think that China has a big stake in this plant due to all the materials for the batteries come from China.

I've worked on many big dam projects as a former state administrator, most of which were primarily regulated by FERC authority. One of the last large projects I was involved in before retirement was the review of a long power line project carrying Canadian hydroelectric all the way down to NYC. Albany took over the project because it was international. It didn't seem to be a problem for them to have provide hydropower to their constituency in the Big Apple, as long as it came from somewhere else.

Water keeps coming, and so does it's energy potential. The only problem with dams can be overcome with proper design. Those being fish passage and maintaining flow of cold water to downstream reaches. I worked hard to obtain public access for fishing.

Sounds awfully similar to what was happening in Michigan. They were trying to take peoples property by eminent domain.

I wouldn't feel too warm and fuzzy over Rivian's future growth. I saw today they are throwing an extra $5K at people trading in late model gas trucks/SUV to stimulate sales. EVs work well for a small group of people but otherwise seem to be more of a status symbol. I don't need to preach to this choir, grid, maintenance, batteries, pollution, performance, they just don't make sense for many. Take away the subsidies and a few supply chain hiccups would implode that market.
Going back to the dams though. I couldn't agree more that academia has ruined science. It's created a machine to support lies that support an agenda to take away abundant energy and cripple powerful nations. Demonizing CO2 and methane are the new tool. This is going to be ugly if scientists with a real understanding of climate changes won't stand up and be heard. I believe none of this trash we are being fed. It's been going on for decades, the theme just changes. I envision a scenario in 20 years that looks pretty ugly. The savages that live out in the wild lands mostly on their own and the majority of people pushed to some sort of city or municipal center begging for the scraps of food and energy they are "allowed" to consume. Most likely with some sort of digital payment.
