I normally hunt elk alone so it is just me and my old bones to pack the elk out. I always debone them on the spot so I am not carrying any extra weight. First job is to actually kill one. Then I go to the truck and then to camp and get all of my butchering gear and hike back in to the elk. In this case the elk was shot right at last light so I went back in the morning to butcher it.
