DANGER, DANGER, DANGER: Look inside of your new brass!

Found this in a bag of 300 wsm Winchester brass, that customs had opened.

I would let the manufacture know because that is dangerous. Good catch man…good catch.

With the severe shortage of loaded ammo there is a large number of shooters beginning to reload. Perhaps we may be seeing a increase in accidents resulting in reloading by novices. Great post, hopefully new reloaders will be very cautious with all steps of the process. Asking questions before accidents happen.

Recently I purchased a 50 round bag of 358 Winchester brass.
Six were about 15 grains heavier than the rest.
These cases did not contain all the powder the normal weight brass did.

Just bought a bag of reprocessed 308 brass just to mess around with, which wasn't much but still, and upon inspection it was a mix of head stamps, then found some 308 brass necked down to 6.5 CR and 30-06 brass. This should have been labeled as "may contain various calibers"!
Looking for a reputable range brass seller's check out Capital cartridge and everglades ammo. I use both with excellent results.

I for one have taken it for granite that when you are buying premium brass that you don't have to look at every case but I had a case that they didn't get the primer hole drilled out so when i was sizing the case it pushed my priming pen back up into my dies!
Lesson learned to check them all.

I dove in the pool at Starline for my .270win. I bought a batch, loaded my pet load. the cases measured out very consistent out of the box, very few necks out of round. Lengths within 0.005 of each other, Neck thickness was very consistent. I segregated all within 0.4gr in weight. Cases not within 0.4 went into a coffee can. There were eleven in that can when I got done, that surprised the heck out of me. Shot and reloaded a couple of dozen 9 times. They performed as well as Starline's straightwall pistol cases. Based on that experience I bought 2000 cases, for a lifetime supply, all the same lot number. Since the pandemic hit Starline hardly has anything available, glad I jumped in the pool when I did.
