Good Morning All-

Does anyone here employ Combined Technologies Ballistic Silvertip in their loading?

I'm anxious to gather user's experiences w the Lubalox residue left in the barrel and it's affect on barrel/accuracy performance.

I'm new to this Lubalox coating (save the lubalox they used on their rimfire bullets) and during my attempt to remove any copper fouling, I believe the bore is coated with the powder/lubalox via a sandwiching effect. After about 3 hours of serious scrubbing with Sweet's, Outers Solvent, Bronze Brush, Nylon Brush, Tornado brush and some 30 patches, I've come down to a clean bore..yet no sign of copper fouling is being revealed (yet)...

Anybody have any pro/con opinions on this bullet?

Thanks all-

The black stuff may be a gimic, I have shot them and regular BTs and they perform the same. I am going to compare them to my normal TSX load this weekend and see how they foul compared to them. The TSX can be a barrel fouling bullet.

I shoot TSX all the time and have not noticed any undue fowling no more fowling than any other jacketed bullet,in my experience.........

As far as I understand there is no coating on the Ballistic Silvertip bullets. It is a surface treatment that is supposed to slightly harden the surface of the jacket through an oxidation process. This also just happens to turn it black. There should be no build up at all as there is nothing to come off the jacket.
