Cow elk caliber

If you were going to shoot a cow and have a 308 and a 270 which would you choose? I have 150 and 165 grain Barnes bullets for the 308 and 130 grain Barnes and Nosler e-tips for the 270.

I could pull out the 300wm but it's a heavy rifle. I'm not opposed to carrying it because this hunt is going to be from side by sides or quads.
Cow elk at 280 yds taken with .308 and 178gr ELDX, made it 2 steps.

I've never shot a cow but have had good results on bulls with the 130 TSX BT and H4350 in .270 and the 150 TTSX BT and H4895 in .308.

.270 with 130gr Etip is plenty for a cow...or if you have a 6.5 ManBun would also work... ;-)

As others have said it doesn't matter. My wife uses a .257 Roberts with 100 grain TTSX at about 3000 fps out to 300 yards or so at any ethical angle from straight on to quartering away.

yes either will work but since you asked:
the 270 velocity will likely destroy more meat, get less penetration and leave less or no blood trail. The 30 will increase pentation giving you a wider margin for shot angles.

when given the choice for elk: 30 trumps 27 ....ALWAYS!!!
