Someone convince me to build a 300 RUM. Im also kinda thinking about a 300 RUM AI and even +P'ing it. Literally balls to the wall 30 cal. Im thinking i would prefer to run bullets between a 174 ELD-VT and a 230 A-Tip. Sierra bullets will be in the mix as well.

You dont need to provide me with your load if you dont want, but i would like to know some of your guy's build specs and what kind of velocities you are getting. Pictures are a bonus!

I'll provide a little extra info, i have a CA Traverse in 300 PRC that im wanting to do this with. So the easiest option would be a barrel swap. Also, with my Traverse, i believe i have a combo of not the best barrel and crap brass. I see many of other's achieveing much higher velocities using the same powder and bullets i usually use, hence the barrel swap option. Right now, i forget my charge, but im using H1000 with a 230 A-Tip and im only getting 2600 or 2680. I cant remember the exact, but i know im not getting 2700. Its to hot at 2700.

I would go 30-33XC, it will trump all the others by a good margin.
The Rigby case is a marvel in what velocities it can reach with heavy bullets like the 245g Berger.
My own 300-416 Rigby Improved 9" twist gets above 3000fps with the 245g, above 3100fps with the 230g.

300NMI would be the next option in a 8" twist.

Cheers.

FWIW I have a 300 RUM in CA ELR. 220 Eldx mag length right at 3k fps with excellent accuracy. Only been able to shoot it to 900 yards but it hammers. Took 3 elk with it. 30 yards 100 yards and 550. Bullet did not hold together on close ones but all elk dropped where they were shot.
