Considering 6mm x .284 vs. 6mm-06

Have you been able to take any game with the 110 atips?
Groundhogs. Not on anything else.
I built it for target shooting out to 1000yds. Given the opportunity I would like to try it on Whitetail.

Well, I got a shot yesterday afternoon with the 240.
Nothing really to note other than I was surprised that the medium sized doe actually caught that 80 grain TTSX that was launched @ that speed. She was quartering at a hard angle to me and I shot her in the neck at about 105 yards, the bullet passed into her offside shoulder and did not exit. Of course, she hit the ground with the crack of the 240 and the whomp of the impact. I could feel the damage inside on that shoulder and it felt like a tennis ball sized hole, but I couldn't find the bullet. I have a friend that is going to do the butchering and hopefully he finds what's left of the bullet. I'd be surprised if it was able to keep any of those petals, but it will be interesting to see.
Follow up here.
I was told by the guy that cut up that deer for me that there was indeed a very small exit hole in the hide of the deer that I didn't see. So, I'm thinking that the bullet did possibly shed the petals and made it's way out the off side shoulder.

Need to resurrect this thread. Just got a screaming deal on a Prometheus long action std bolt face. Highly considering doing a 6x284. Is the easy Button to size down Lapua or Peterson 6.5x284 brass with a full length sizer or should one get a bushing die and do it in steps? Was going to do a 6/6.5PRC but since I have the action allready set for std bolt face I figured I would check on doing the 6x284.

6x6.5 RPM would be the easy button now...

I've had no problems running it through a standard full sizing die or even a neck die. No bushings here. I do anneal afterwards though, not sure if it's necessary but I've got the machine and it's not hurting anything.

Die and reamer availability? I don't see any? Interested but from what I see, it is not the easy button compared to 6PRC and 6x284 when it comes to setup availability.

Buy a reamer to your specs. Get bushing 6.5 dies. Easy peasy.

6 PRC and 6x284 still need dies and reamers too.

Appreciate the recommendation but think I'm going to stick with the 6x284 if I can find good brass. Better bullet seating ability in the LA and it's more in line with the velocity I'm looking for.

Good luck...6.5x284 brass used to be plentiful, I can't remember the last time I saw any in stock. I do have a few if you're in a pinch and need some for dummy rounds for your reamer.

Appreciate that. I may just order a Prefit. Preferred barrels offers their shoulder prefit in 6x284. Thinking maybe 26 inch #3 with 1-8 twist due to the velocity. I plan to shoot around 105/107 grain bullets.
