Okay all. Since my last post another error (partly mine and partly equipment) was uncovered. Apparently the case trimmer I was using was a little "off" AND I wasn't measuring OAL of EVERY piece of prepped brass to verify correct length. Seems trim length for 6mm Remington is 2.223 and my cutter (Lee w/case length gauge and lock stud for a cordless drill) was stopping at 2.227. Sometimes brass would trim off and sometimes NOT. Soooooooo...my trim length has NEVER been consistent or right. Another member here helped me discover this and when I cleaned out my chamber the whole back half of the chamber mop came out a really nice, mesmerizing shade of NEON BLUE. Maybe my "over length" rounds were being slightly crimped in the chamber and throwing everything out of whack?? In any case....now I've got Forster Original Case Trimmer on the way, a clean chamber and I'm measuring EVERY case now. Supposed to have good weather tomorrow so we'll see what happens.

Hey All! So, I had a lot of time to think during my "Snow Day" and here's what I did. I admitted to myself that I was FED UP with this 6mm/.244 Remington experience and told myself that I didn't lose this fight.....I'm just "abandoning" it . I called my Smith and explained it to him. Here's what we're gonna do. He's gonna set the barrel back a couple inches (from a 26" to a 24"), re-chamber it to a .243 Winchester and I'm gonna start all over with a slightly new caliber. It uses the same powders and primers I already have AND I can get good Lapua, Norma or Nosler brass this time . He suggested a 6BR with a .262 neck. However, that's not something I want to get into (neck turning, etc) considering the issues I've already had AND I currently don't have a single component for it. I want to spend more time shooting and having fun and LESS time at the reloading bench trying to decipher cryptic problems . I put my Choate Stock and all my 6mm/.244 Remington dies up for sale and my scope is on it's way back to Beaverton, Oregon as I type this. Already got an H.S. Precision M24 Stock and bottom metal on the way, too. Total Overhaul!! Thanks to ALL that helped me!!! Looking forward to using my "new reloading toys" on a new caliber.
