commercial mauser owners

I,ve owned/own quite a few Mauser actioned rifles and have had many commercial Mausers and actions...thru the years ..... also Interarms/Whitworth and Dumoulin...actions are all better fit and finish than wartime Mausers....and less work...
Saved the last 4 actions for nostalgic builds.... but my buddy talked me out of 2 of them as he is a Afrikan nut.... still have a couple interarms Mark x`s for future builds.........

I bought a Interarms Mauser 98 barreled action in 300 Win Mag back in the eighties. I put together a fairly light weight rifle for moose, Dall sheep and caribou hunting. After about 2500 rounds down the barrel it was worn out. I had a Bartlain #4 contour barrel install and the action squared. It has a Timney trigger and a B&C Medalist stock now. It is now too heavy for sheep hunting, but so am I. I will pass that rifle and others down to my kids.

Yeah I've almost gotten rid of my Mauser. But the fit and finish just seems great and I'm a bit nostalgic. i keep switching what I'll build with it. lately it seems like a toss up between the 22-250, the 7-08, or the 308 Win.

Just picked up another interarms Mauser yesterday in 25-06 . At $350 I figure I couldn't pass it up . Not sure what I'll do with it yet . It's got some sort of duracote or something sprayed on it and coming off . I probably won't go crazy re- doing this one but just replace the trigger for a timney and the scope then have what ever is on it removed and a matte black cerakote application done.

I could not have passed that one up either. Good buy and good looking rifle.

The pictures are quite deceiving. They make the rifle look better than it truly is. I'm not sure if it's duracote that was applied and then someone tried to remove but there are alot of surface imperfections thru out the action ,down the entire lengh of the barrel, and the bottom metal. It's got 25-06 cano especial marked on the barrel .Not sure what that means. I'm probably going to pull it apart and use the action for a long throat 25-06 ai . It depends on how the rifle cleans up . I've got my wife's gun at cerakote so when it's done I'll bring it and see if he can clean up and cerakote everything matte black. I'll take some new pictures and post later today . The current was the sellers pictures and not very accurate of condition.

This is a J.C. Higgins/FN Mauser. Stock design by J.K. Cloward, an old Seattle area gunsmith. .243 Win, Timney trigger, Euro walnut stock, Sightron 3-16X42 Stac scope, Burris Sig Zee 30mm rings, 8 twist McGowen #5 barrel. I just shot it yesterday using 87 Vmax bullets & 43.5 grains of SW4350 & got 1 inch groups at 200 & was able to hit 3 inch steel at 300 consistently. It now has a 4-20X50 Sightron STac scope.

The creature between the Koala bear & red crab is a Puffin.

Here is another FN Mauser. 6mm-06 now a 6.5-06.

The last JC Higgins M50 I bought was at Cabello's in Missoula for $350,no photo - it now has a Richards plywood stock and a #4 McGowen barrel, .280 Rem.

Here's some better pictures that show the scratches and some type of coating that was applied and must be what someone was trying to remove. I did find two boxes of 25-06 ammo for a gun I forgot I bought a few years ago . It's still new and unfired. It's in the safe somewhere.
