cold bore ???

Analyze this group which were all cold bore shots taken on different days at 100 yards.

Total group height was 1.965 inches. Total group width was 0.909 inches. If the last shot taken, the one at the bottom left, is excluded, the group width is 0.195 inches.

More than good enough for hunting but it's not going to win any long range matches...

To clean the bore of oil before I go to sight my rifle in for hunting I run a patch soaked with lighter fluid down the bore to remove the cleaning oil then a dry patch and repeat if necessary. Fire a couple of shots "letting the barrel cool down" between shots and 1/2 inch or less groups are good enough for hunting. No magic here. How many Shots are ya going to take in one hunting season?

If you don't want to carry the mattress pump around these work pretty well.

I had one of those items you speak of. Biggest waste of money ever for my 30" barrel. I use a fish tank pump and it works!!
